- Very light pink stick pearls with outstanding nacre giving them both strength and shine. They range in length from 20 to 25mm and are center drilled meaning the hole is midway between the ends of the beads so they can toggle or spin around the cord or headpin that holds them.
- They are also popular for use as the "bar" when combined with a loop to create a toggle clasp.
- Pearls are formed inside bivalves (similar to oysters), which coat any foreign substance that gets inside their shell with a smooth layer of pearly nacre to eliminate the irritation. This coating grows over time increasing the pearl's luster and size. The color is influenced by minerals in the water.
- The Chinese cultured some pearls in the 12th or 13th century, but the Japanese developed it into an industry in the 1890s, inserting mother-of-pearl beads as the basis of their cultured pearls.
