If you look at the white parts you see a star, if you look at the dark parts you can see indentations resembling the points on a ground chevron bead
To create the pattern in the batik process, wax is applied to the areas that are to stay white and the beads are submerged in black hair dye which stains the parts destined to be dark, then the wax is removed and the beads are strung.
