Often sold as Roman Glass, these are more likely Islamic Era (700-1000 AD) glass shards from the rims of glassware, that have recently been made into beads in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The amount of labor and lapidary skill required to turn ancient glass into beads should not be underestimated. These beads carry not only history, but also artistry in addition to their visual appeal.
