Beautifully engraved, antique two channel clasp from an Indian silver necklace or belt.
The hinge hides a screw holds the clasp together, like a bolt in a door hinge
Turn the little ball to remove the screw and the clasp comes apart
Note that Indian screws work differently from ours. To loosen turn the screw to the right or clockwise. To tighten turn it to the left, or counter-clockwise!
The image of the back shows the channels where one or two thick silver ropes would have been soldered or crimped into the clasp.
These are beautiful example of Indian craftsmanship to collect, but I'm sure some of you could also figure out ways to use them.
Only one available, but I am posting 3 other similar ones.
