Red Himalayan coral in recent times comes originally from the Red sea via India and Nepal or from Japan, although Marco Polo attested to the use of Italian coral in Tibet during the 13th century where he reported it was "in great demand and fetches high prices" Not much has changed there.
Since ancient times coral has been considered precious and powerful around the world.
