One long, large curved antique Venetian trade bead composed of red stripes interspersed with mix color "crumbs" 43mm long by 18mm diameter so really there are only millefiori crumbs here, but these are part of the same bead family
Both end are a little chipped which accounts for the low price for this large bead
We used to call these "End of Day Beads" assuming that they were made up of all the little leftover bits of glass at the end of a long day of beadmaking
Bright red is a rare color in trade beads and the bright yellow indicates these were made later in the history of Venetian trade beads
Made in Venice, Italy for the African trade, late 19th to early 20th century
From the collection of Joyce Diamanti, world traveler, bead researcher, writer and educator.
Only one available although I have a shorter one from the same batch JSD-313
