Pair of collectible Antique Venetian Trade Bead with entire multi-color canes applied to the core lengthwise, rather than in the usual way as thin slices (aka murrine)
A glimpse of the cross section of the canes can be seen at the end of the bead
I'm not sure why this would be done, surely many more beads could have been made if they canes were sliced into murrine.
Only one pair available, altho I have a single one (JSD-274) from this batch
From the collection of Joyce Diamanti, bead researcher, writer, and educator.
