Vintage Konyak Naga red glass trade bead necklace, 26” Only one available
Necklace of 47 strands of mid-1900s red glass bugle beads 4-5mm long made in India. This necklace features an unusual braided clasp as opposed to the more frequently seen macrame style.
Multi-strand necklaces were worn daily by both men and women as ornamentation and signs of status. Those with red beads were more abundant and frequently had more strands, due to their more local manufacture, thus increased availability.
Collected in the 1980’s.
