Nigerian, Glass Coral Simulation Beads, Vintage, Strand of Assorted Shapes
AFG-92
- Red coral colored glass beads, some with deliberate pock marks to simulate coral were bought in Abidjan in the 1970s.
- These were said to originate from a small and defunct glass industry in Nigeria
- The color mimics coral really well and the shapes also resemble very large old coral beads.
- The material itself isn't so valuable but it's very distinctive and collectible
- It comes out of the stash I'd collected for my Dictionary of Beads project
- I'm actually tempted to keep this strand...
