  • Red coral colored glass beads, some with deliberate pock marks to simulate coral were bought in Abidjan in the 1970s.
  • These were said to originate from a small and defunct glass industry in Nigeria
  • The color mimics coral really well and the shapes also resemble very large old coral beads.
  • The material itself isn't so valuable but it's very distinctive and collectible
  • It comes out of the stash I'd collected for my Dictionary of Beads project
  • I'm actually tempted to keep this strand...
