However, many were made in Venice too.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eNueva Cadiz are drawn beads and some of the earliest, used by the Spanish to trade in the Americas (from Peru to colonial Jamestown, VA) Those beads were considerably smaller than the version traded to Africa later, but the composition was the same: Dark glass, coated with white, then a final layer, usually of translucent turquoise.
