Internationally respected artist and teacher, Rene Roberts grew up on a beach in California and remembers as a child noticing that each grain of sand was a different color. She never stopped noticing details like this and still lives near the ocean. Meticulous in her work, she confided to me when I visited her studio that she offers the beads that don't meet her high standards to the sea, sending them flying into the surf.
