- The actual Russian blue beads are dark blue, tubular or long bicones that were traded to Alaskan natives by Russian fur dealers for pelts.
- It's still unknown whether the be beads traveled across Russia from Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) by cart, or were transported by boat to one of the Chinese ports, such as Canton, before being passed on the Russian fur traders operating in Siberia and across the Bering Strait.
