Extra large openwork lost wax cast elbow bead 55mm wide
This bead is an extraordinary feat of creativity and technical skill.
The lost wax casting method involves first creating the object with thin threads of bees' wax, then encasing it in clay, firing it to harden the mold and melt the wax out. Then molten recycled brass is poured in to fill the spaces where the wax was.
When it cools the mold is broken open to reveal the bead. With this complex design it's a near miracle that bead is perfect except for one small gap in one strand.
It will make a stunning centerpiece for a necklace without the extra weight of other types of metal beads.
