- These beads are priced and sold by the set of 4
- Antique Venetian lampwork red wedding cake beads, named for their over-the-tip decoration consisting of blue flowers, green leaves, white dots and gold-glass (aventurine) trails.
- The beads are highly prone to having parts of the decoration pop off, and these do have some flaws, but no major chips, cracks or missing parts
- The name lampworking comes from the lamps (torches today) that artists use to melt the very thin rods of glass for applying decoration to the surface of beads.
- The bead cores were produced in the furnaces of larger Venetian glass workshops before being sent to artists working at home to decorate them. This explains the variations we see in similar designs produced over decades.
