Description
- Wonderful antique 29-inch strand of mostly smoothly tapered 4 or 5-sided, mostly collared beads, that appear oval until you look closely or handle them.
- These beads come from the Gond, an Adivasi (original inhabitants) group from Odisha (formerly Orissa) state in India.
- The centerpiece is a rare and very beautifully shaped 6 sided smooth bicone bead of aluminum. It looks like a fruit or a sea creature.
- Towards the end of the strand are 4 brass focals that might have started as buttons and ended up as pendants.
- Also near the ends are 4 small four sided collarless beads that very much resemble the larger versions at ASM-1074, ASM-1076 and ASM-1077. Finally there are two diamond shaped beads, the smaller very old and worn, the larger, somewhat newer.The more I handle these beads the more I want to keep them!
