Description

  • Large vintage Turkoman Teke necklace centerpiece and clasp. The total of the two parts measures 10.5 inches wide x 7 inches long including the dangles.
  • I'm selling these as a set for now, although I'm open to separating them. Contact me if you are interested. The left side component is missing the link that would have connected it to the necklace, but I suspect they won't be used in the traditional way. Today they could work as pendants, part of a belt, ornaments for a coat, jacket, or even a hat. My house has several of the antique ones on the wall!
  • The two diamond-shaped components traditionally connected the two sides of a necklace consisting of linked components that extended from the shoulders to the front of the waist where this massive clasp (capaz) linked them.
  • These vintage pieces are far simpler than the antique ones (for example ASF-304)
  • The cabochons are glass as opposed to carnelian and the gilding is done in a different way. On the other hand the price is a fraction of what the antique pieces cost. It all depends what you want.
  • These are from the family collection of my Afghan friends living in Pakistan. The pieces will surely benefit from some polishing, but I hesitate to do that, because not everyone wants things looking shiny, and it's a lot easier to shine something up than to recreate an aged effect.
