- The greater the number of strands the finer each micro-cable is and thus the more flexible and kink-resistant the wire. However, the price also goes up with the number of strands per given diameter.
- The heavier the beads, the less critical the flexibility is. 7-strand .014 diameter wire is an economical choice for medium size gemstones or glass beads (9 pound break point) 7-strand .018 diameter works fine for heavier gemstones or glass beads (20 pound beak point)
- For smaller beads and/or lighter materials consider 21- or 49-strand cable wires
- After trying all the brands, I personally have settled on Flex-Rite, finding it to have flexibility equal to, or better than, other brands at a better price.
