- Smooth round garnet beads, 4mm diameter on 15.5-inch strands with barrel clasp. These beautifully cut, polished and drilled beads date from the 1980's when a quirk in the customs regulations temporarily made it less expensive to import beads as "jewelry", rather than as strands without a clasp. For a few years clasps were quickly added most imported strands.
