- Picture Jasper 4x9mm rondells on 16-inch strand
- Picture Jasper is a mostly brown, beige (and rarely grey-blue) stone, made magical by its remarkable banding and patterns that can resemble landscapes reminiscent of the eastern Oregon desert areas where it has been found.
- Created by petrified layers of mud and plant materials, the resulting “images” that appear when the stone is sliced, can also resemble delicate Chinese calligraphic landscape paintings.
- The patterns are not visible in rondelles, but the shape remains very useful for smooth flowing necklaces and the color works well with organic beads like bone or horn, and antler, as well as with black beads
- Metaphysical qualities include facilitating a connection to the earth and Goddess energies, supporting meditation, dream work and visions. Some also use it for divination.
