Description
- Contemporary American glass bead showcasing a beautiful example of the feathering technique. Artist unknow, but likely the same as GLC-290 & GLC-293
- The white core is wrapped in amber glass, then stripes of red, white and gold aventurine glass (copper particles in clear glass) are drawn into v shapes with a tool while the glass is still molten. On this bead you can see clearly why it's called feathering - the patterns look like the detail on bird feathers
- This technique has been know and used since ancient Egyptian times, exported worldwide in Venetian trade beads, and remains popular today.
