- New White Hearts, blue 8mm, on 20-inch strands
- New white hearts are just one example of new beads going to Africa in bulk to be strung like trade beads for the sole purpose of being exported back out.
- The new ones are made in much the same way as when they were invented in the 1600s. A core of white class is covered by a layer of translucent glass. As a result, the colors seem lighter and brighter as light is reflected back off the white core through the outer layer.
- The original White Hearts were almost all red. Today we have a full rainbow of colors and a wide range of sizes.
- Aside from more and brighter colors, new White Hearts are also more uniform in size and shape than older ones.
