- I learned early in my jewelry career that it was fun, challenging (in a good way) and efficient to design in sets. Once I had selected my palette I brought all the beads I needed to the worktable and created variations on a theme until they were gone. I tended to start out simple patterns and warm up to more complex ones by layering in different textures of colors with each iteration.
- The habit became even more useful when we had the Beadazzled retail stores in DC, Baltimore and Northern Virginia. Display space was at a premium both in our wall cases and on neck stands in the windows. I made sure my variations offered a variety of lengths so they could be displayed together making the best use possible of the space. As a bonus customers often like the look and bought several to wear together or separately dictated by the even they were dressing for.
