Description
- This rich blend of bone and wood beads is what I call "bead soup". It comes together when I stir a variety of odd lots of different shapes, sizes and textures into a harmonious mix. It includes beads from Africa, India, and China.
- You are only seeing about half the necklace in the image.
- It consists of two nesting strands, the longer one measures 34 inches
- Some of the light and dark rondelles are wood, the rest of the beads are bone, many vintage, collected over many years.
- When I finish working with a particular palette, I collect the leftover beads into a cup or bowl. When it's about to overflow after several project and sometimes after many years, I make Bead Soup.
- It took me some time to get comfortable with the asymmetry, but now I love it. Keeping the color palette simple allows for wide variety in every other way without the overall effect becoming too confusing or disjointed.
