- I'm pretty sure this was a plain colonial Dutch button before it became the more embellished and mysterious item it became next.
- A small metal pin has been attached through one of the button holes. It can move like the hand of a clock, but I have no idea what its function was. This came to me as part of a collection of odd lots.
