Description

  • Large very auspicious Himalayan pendant beautifully representing the mountainous region where Buddhism and Hinduism meet. Silver with brass image of Ganesha surrounded by lucky fish and other auspicious symbols. 45mm diameter
  • Ganesha one of the most adored deities in Hinduism is also revered by Tibetan Buddhists for his ability to remove obstacles, bring prosperity and protect the Buddha Dharma. In Hinduism he is also invoked as the lord of new beginnings, remover of obstacles and as the equivalent of a patron saint for writers and intellectuals and other creators.
  • The Buddhist fish circling Ganesha in this pendant represent happiness, freedom of movement, abundance, fertility and long life. There's something for everyone in this handsome but lightweight pendant.
  • These are from Nepal, but much of the work found there is, at least influenced by and sometimes even made by, refugees from Tibet or other neighboring countries. I'm calling the Asian beads and pendants I'm listing this month "Himalayan" to acknowledge the similarities and overlap in materials, design, and craftsmanship throughout the region.
