Description
- Contemporary silver drop shape Gau box with turquoise cab and embedded coral beads 33mm wide x 54mm long and 22mm thick. The front is raised like the steps of a temple.
- The back is flat and removable. These boxes were originally designed to hold mantras prayers, herbs, medicines or other small special items
- If you decide to open the box, do it carefully and replace the back equally carefully without deforming the metal. A loose fitting lid can easily get lost.
- Only one available but there is a similar round design at ASF-410
- These are from Nepal, but much of the work found there is, at least influenced by and sometimes even made by, refugees from Tibet or other neighboring countries. I'm calling the Asian beads and pendants I'm listing this month "Himalayan" to acknowledge the similarities and overlap in materials, design, and craftsmanship throughout the region.
