- In this necklace, one of a series I'd run out of larger Aquamarine beads so I searched for a substitute and found the African-made glass donuts in the same old coke bottle light blue-green color. I don't hesitate to make these leaps now, but when I started out designing and when I was designing primarily for museum stores I felt constrained to keep gemstones together, African beads together, Asian beads together, etc. It's very freeing to let that go and play with whatever l feel works and I encourage you to do the same if you can!
