- Vintage dark red chubby Bohemian molded oval beads 28x24mm known in the trade as "cherry tomatoes" These are darker and more opaque than AFE-2080 and show their age with the usual nicks, small chips and scratches but for the right person this just makes them more attractive. While the darker colors like these were more popular in West Africa the brighter, lighter ones were preferred in East Africa.
- They pair well with other large African beads - clay, metal, shell, etc
- Trade beads from Bohemia (now Czech Republic) are less showy than Venetian ones, but were very popular in Africa, and remain so today as ideal complements to fancier beads from Venice
- Intrepid agents of Bohemian button and bead factories traveled all over Africa collecting samples of popular beads. Replicas of many of these beads, originally made of stone or organic materials like shell, were produced in molds in wide range of glass colors and exported by the boatload during the 1800s and early 1900s
