- Vintage, clear glass molded Bohemian beads from the African trade.
- 10x6mm on a 24-inch strand, semi-matte finish from age, no cracks or chips
- One, the larger faceted cube, has a light yellow-greenish tinge reminiscent of vasaline beads, which were also made by Bohemian glass beadmakers
- Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) had a very active glassmaking industry in the 1800s, which included buttons and eventually many trade beads
- Intrepid agents of the manufacturers traveled around west and northwest Africa collecting information about the kinds of beads the people liked. The beadmakers then developed ways to imitate the favored beads, originally made of stone or organic materials, in less expansive molded glass. This led to new exciting clear glass versions, and many new colors, as well as an expanded array of shapes until the early 1900s when this trade died out during World War I
