Description
- These beads are priced and sold as a set of 5
- 3 Large "lightbulb" in brown "agate glass" with two plain dark brown ones 14x24mm. Agate glass mixed 2 colors of glass, here brown and white, to mimic the banded patterns of natural agate stone beads
- These are components from an African "Wedding Bead Necklace" See: AFT-171 for example.
- Made in Bohemia (now Czech Republic) during the 1800s to early 1900s
- Traded to Africa where they became especially popular among the Fulani of Mali.
- I've heard two stories about why they are called Wedding beads: a) they are passed from mother to daughter at the latter's marriage, b) they are worn by drummers who perform at Fulani weddings.
