Bone coin shape beads with spirals on both sides, 20mm diameter
Made in India, nice as pendants, earrings and bracelets
The batik normal process involves covering the areas to remain white with wax, soaking the exposed parts in dark brown or black dye, boiling off the wax, then cleaning and stringing the beads.
In this case the bone is dyed black/very dark brown first, and then the design is carved through the surface layer of color to expose the white underneath.
