Very dark brown (almost black) bone with spiral design, 25mm diameter

At first I thought these a variety of batik bone beads, but on closer inspection the look and feel inlaid, but now I've decided that the bone is dyed dark first, then the design is created by removing the suface dark layer to expose the white underneath.
