- In Chinese art koi symbolize several lessons we may face in life and the strength, perseverance, and courag we have to overcome them to reach longevity, success, good fortune and prosperity
- In India they soak bone in tea to "antique" it. In China they seem to use smoke, which often leaves a strong smell, so I've generally avoided these types of beads regardless of how attractive they are.
- As time goes by, however, the smell diminishes so I've started looking at them again. These have just a trace of smoky odor left -- if I didn't mention it, most people wouldn't notice, but I'm all about full disclosure.
