Description
- Unusual, vinage "shield" ornament from Ethiopia, brass, 42mm diameter
- This is a heavier version, is quite different from the lighter newer ones
- Central raised area is 12mm tall
- I'm not sure how they are used originally, possibly attached to clothing or hats
- I've seen work by at least one designer who has attached 3 of these to each other to create a really stunning effect in a necklace
- I can also envision them added to the lids of small wooden boxes or baskets
- I have several but each is unique and only a few have raided central elements
