- Lost Wax Cast rounds from Ghana about 15mm diameter with some slight variations on 22-inch strand excluding raffia.
- Rounded spiral beads with straight and wavy lines on the surface of the spirals
- Due to the lengthy and complex nature of the lost wax process slight imperfections are inevitable and accepted as a way of distinguishing unique beads made by this process from mass produced copies. On this near perfect strand, only a few beads have small holes.
- The perforations in these beads are quite large, up to 3mm or more
- Each of these beads is first made in wax. The wax is covered by clay, the clay is heated and the wax runs out through openings left for that purpose. Molten recycled metal is poured in. After cooling, each clay mold is broken open and the individually unique beads are removed, cleaned, and polished.
- In this long, delicate and laborious process it's inevitable that some beads are not perfect. That's normal and taken into account when pricing. Flaws are much less noticeable on smaller beads.
