  • Rare vintage Yoruba beads from Nigeria, 20-inch strand of 68 beads with small pendant
  • The 24 granulated beads are about 9mm, the beehive shapes 7mm diameter
  • Fine wirework and granulation, highly unusual in brass, and in Africa.
  • The gold plating on this strand has mostly disappeared leaving the beads quite dark with an antiqued look. 
  • Although Yoruba metalwork thrived before and after these were made in the 1950s, this particular style seems to have vanished at about the same time African colonies began asserting their Independence in 1960.
