Rather than being cut by hand or machines, these faceted beads are made in molds. There’s inevitably some molten glass that gets squeezed out around the edges of the mold and that needs to be removed by a fire-polishing process, which also slightly dulls the facets.
This makes the Czech glass faceted beads less sparkly than Chinese or Austrian ones, but that can be a good thing when you want a subtler look.
Like the smooth round ones you can always count on these beads to be exactly the same size, shape and color and to string smoothly and evenly.
