Gorgeous big bead in my favorite colors of iridescent turquoise blending into blue and then violet. These beads were called "fumed" when I bought them.
Fuming refers to burning precious or other metals and directing the vapor onto the glass beads. Fuming with gold give a pinkish color and silver makes white, blue or yellowish fumes. I think this bead must have been fumed with copper, cobalt or manganese to make these amazing colors.
I always welcome corrections and especially attributions from my glass bead-making friends so if you know who make this bead, or how, please let me know!
