- Tiny antique Venetian Gooseberry beads characterized by white stripes on clear glass. 2-3mm diameter beads in perfect condition on extra long 48-inch strand
- Made from the 1600s to early 1900s in Venice, Italy
- The clear glass sometimes had a greenish tinge due to impurities in the glass which made the resemble actual gooseberries
- Widely traded in the Americas, as well as Africa and other places
- Not to be confused with replicas or new Indonesian striped beads of various colors now also being called "gooseberry"
