Description
- Long strands of 108 Himalayan chank shell beads, plus one that serves as the guru bead. Don't need so many beads? Check out ASO-111.
- These ivory colored oblate bead are mostly 12x 13 or 14mm, but some may be a little larger or smaller.
- These rounded shell beads collected on long mala type strands, but according to Harry Neufeld they were not necessarily worn, or used, in that way in Ladakh and other Tibetan-populated areas of the Himalayas.
- They were made between 70 to over 100 years ago, probably by the same South Indian shell cutters who made the Naga shell beads and ornaments.
- This ensures they'll also work well with the Naga elongated and round beads and pendants. The holes are large enough for 2mm leather.
- Their warm ivory/cream color also pairs nicely with wood or amber, brass, copper, and some gemstones, especially those warm tones, like carneliand and those with matte finish
