Description

  • These beads are priced and sold individually
  • Replicas of ancient Jatim beads from Indonesia
  • Green with brick, amber and white markings
  • Large holes, about 3mm
  • Large decorated beads found in Java Timor (East Java) were given then name Jatim beads by collectors, but are also called Majapahit beads. They were made about 900 AD in Java and are said to be similar to Venetian mosaic or millefiori beads in that the core was covered by small bits of small glass that formed a pattern.
  • What confuses me is that many so called Jatim beads look more like lampworked than mosaic beads and that is certainly the case with the replicas I'm posting now as well as those pictured in books. I'm going to have to do more research....
  • These beads are certainly a bargain if you're looking for an interesitng large bead  with a large hole.
