- Indonesian black and white finely detailed, large feathered beads 25x10mm
- Only one 19-inch strand available
- These beads are another step toward replicating antique Venetian feathered beads (See ASG-248 and ASG-249 among others) The shape is closer but these beads are quite heavy with very uniform shape and small holes. They might be drawn or even molded as opposed to wound.
- Indonesia has a long tradition of beadmaking and recently the center of activity in Java has been producing a wide variety of products using many different techniques. There nothing wrong with imitations or replicas. This is how artists in all media learn. These items only become "fakes" when dealers outside of Indonesia mis-represent them and overcharge.
- These beads are interesting in their own riight having a robustness that the Venetian ones never had. I'm half tempted to keep them.
