Description
- These beads are priced and sold by the set of 8
- Very rare large vintage Indonesian "sea foam" colored glass flat ovals 25x25mm to 32x25 to 35x25. All are about 12mm thick.
- The "sea foam" color was created in Java, Indonesia by melting down glass Coke bottles when the factory switched to cans. The resulting glass was then cut and ground into beads of various shapes, sizes and textures.
- These beads look similar, but because they are smooth on both sides and of even thickness there may be some truth to the story that they were cut from very thick, possibly bullet proof glass. In any case a lot of work went into finishing them so smoothly and drilling holes from both ends without breaking the beads!
- These were relatively abundant in the later 1990s and early 2000s, but impossible to find in the marketplace now. These came from a collection I recently bought.
