Description
- Very rare antique German glass marble bead 18mm diameter in excellent condition
- This bead has beautifully spiraling white and clear latticino core. That is covered with clear glass, then fine red, white, and blue canes are spiraled around the bead before it was covered with a final layer of clear glass.
- The hole in this bead is larger at one end than the other, an indication that the beads were made as marbles and pierced after the fact in their still semi-molten state. The tool that made the uneven size holes was replaced by equipment that made an even hole end-to-end through the beads around 1860 so these beads predate that.
