Description
- This bead represents the high point of Venetian millefiori artistry and craftsmanship. The multi-color 8, yes 8!, layer chevron pattern was my favorite even before I learned how these were made.
- Square cross section bead 27x9mm
- The extraordinary 8 layer chevron design starts with a rod of amber glass, which while semi molten, is dipped into a mold to create the star shape. Then it's coated with brick red glass and the molding and coating process continues through white, blue, amber, red, white and finally blue again.
- Then slices cut from this magnificent finished cane are applied to bead cores, all without messing up the pattern through multiple steps of heating and cooling. These beads are really extraordinary when you understand the amount or artistry, skill and labor that went into making them.
