  • Moroccan Tuareg necklace with 5 In Gall style pendants of striped ebony and silver set in etched silver, interspersed with 4 etched silver tabular pendants and strung with black glass beads and stamped tubular silver beads.
  • These could be worn as is, or dismantled to make several small necklaces and/or pairs of earrings.
  • The Tuareg are part of the larger cultural/linguistic group called Imazighen (signular Amazigh), the original inhabitants of North Africa. Their myths and history stretch back 9000 years.
  • Spread over vast areas of the Sahara, Sahel and Moroccan coast, are held together by their language, which has outlasted Ancient Greek, Phoenician, Latin, and all the other languages of the ancient Mediterranean. It is finally being officially recognized in Morocco and its alphabet Tifinagh is starting to appear on street signs along with Arabic and/or French
  • Personally, I found the Imazighen (aka Berbers) to be charming, creative, kind to animals and strangers, great cooks, musicians, and generally wonderful people, can't wait to go back to Morocco to learn (and shop) more.
