- Repousse techniques were used to raise the designs on the front, which is also adorned with very finely etched geometric designs
- On the back you can see makers marks in the Tuareg language
- The Tuareg are a traditionally nomadic Amazigh (Berber) people who once traveled freely around the Sahara. National borders have gotten in the way and climate change has forced many to settle. The society was highly stratified, but also being matrilineal, women hold positions of authority both in the family and the culture.
