Vintage Moroccan silver Boghdad Cross (aka Souther Cross) pendant 38x38mm
This is almost identical to the Boghdad crosses AFM-381 except it's had a trip through my vibratory tumbler to polish it up
This Boghdad cross is about 10mm thick and the channel for stringing, just below the top of the cross, can accept a cord or chain up to about 4mm diameter
Boghdad, or Southern Cross pendants are most closely associated with the Moors, descendants of people of mixed European, Arab and Berber heritage who lived in Spain and later moved to Morocco. It has now been adopted by residents and nomads in neighboring regions of the Sahara and Sahel as well
