- Nepalese silver flat round and arch shape beads, 12mm diameter
- The beads are inlaid with chips of turquoise on one side and and red glass to simulate coral on the other side, each also has a brass spiral in the center
- These make wonderful earrings
- Just as in other parts of the world, including the US Southwest, coral and turquoise seem to be universally paired in the Himalayas.
- Turquoise is native to the area, but coral had to be imported and thus was much more expensive.
- The fact that red glass is substituted, far from being a negative, is considered preferable by all who want to protect endangered corals.
