Keshi pearls are 100% nacre
The name refers to irregular shaped pearls that were formed without a bead in the center. This can happen as a by-product of cultured pearl farming and/or when a nucleus (bead) has been rejected.
Keshi is also a Japanese word for poppy, which can be fitting because keshi pearls can often be shaped like flower petals
